Please continue to recycle as normal, there are no changes to the recycling program

Recycling is collected every other week (bi-weekly). Please refer to the collection schedule.
PLEASE RECYCLE:
Plastic Bottles, Jars, Jugs, & Tubs
Plastic Bottles and Containers (clean & empty containers with lids and caps ON)
Plastic Soda, Water & Drink Bottles
Plastic Food & Household Bottles/Jars
(screw top bottles and jars, ex. ketchup, mayonnaise, detergent, shampoo)Plastic Tubs & Lids

Please do not include:
No plastic bags or plastic utensils. Bring plastic bags back to the grocery store.

No bulky plastics (buckets, crates) or toys

No containers that contained hazardous waste

The Town of West Hartford maintains a Recycling and Yard Waste Center for residential use.
An annual permit is required to use the Recycling facility. Permits can be purchased online with a credit card or permits can be purchased at Public Works with a check on Wednesdays – Fridays only, from 8AM to 3PM. Day permits are available on an exception basis. Saturday purchases may be done on the following dates only: April 8th, April 29th, May 13th from 7AM to 12PM.
Permits are for residential use only. Commercial yard waste and clean wood will no longer be accepted at the Town’s recycling center. This includes material brought in by permitted residents with side businesses that generate frequent volumes of yard waste and clean wood material.
Note: A permit will only be issued to town residents whose vehicle is registered in the town of West Hartford. All commercial, rental or out of town vehicles will not get granted a permit.
Permitted residents have unlimited access to use the Yard Waste and Recycling Center at no additional charge for recycling opportunities such as mattresses/box springs, e-waste, textiles, yard waste, aggregate waste, single stream recycling, paint, used books, cardboard and metals.
Compost is available for pick up only at the Recycling Center facility. Quantities are limited to bags and barrels for personal yard use. No trucks or pick-up loads allowed. Compost is free and usually available beginning in April dependent on weather.
Leaf Vouchers will no longer be accepted at the Recycling Center.

Saturday: Open April – December, 7:00AM – 12:00PM. Closed on Saturdays late December – April.

Closed for the following holidays: New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas.
