About the Sustainable Materials Associate Role:
WasteZero will be partnering with municipalities in Connecticut to help initiate food scrap collection efforts to help reduce the waste stream. WasteZero will be partnering with these communities to assist with education, outreach, and operations of these programs. The Project Associate will assist with implementation and roll-out of these waste reduction programs. Tasks will include resident outreach and communications – staffing tables at community events and doing door to door outreach. For these West Haven and Middletown dates, you will work with at least one other person to staff a table at a local retail location. Residents will have received postcards in the mail with instructions on how to pick up their program supplies. On site, you will redeem the resident’s voucher and provide them with their program materials. The Project Associate must be reliable, organized, and able to work in a team setting. Clear communication skills and ability to multi-task also required. You must have your own reliable vehicle and cell phone. Training provided.
About WasteZero
WasteZero is on a mission to cut the trash in half across the United States.
Cities and towns across the nation struggle to manage the escalating financial and environmental costs of the trash we all produce. WasteZero is helping to solve the problem with next-generation waste reduction programs. As a certified B-Corp, we are motivated by a deep desire to protect the environment, as well as help communities use more of their resources to improve the quality of life for residents, rather than managing trash. We’ve been around since 1991, and today we partner with more than 400 towns, cities, counties, state agencies, and private organizations, helping them to reduce waste, increase recycling, and save money. Every municipal waste reduction program that WasteZero has designed and implemented—100%—has succeeded in meeting or even exceeding its waste reduction and financial targets.
