Trash Disposal

Trash Disposal Rules and Guidelines
During the pilot program, all regular household trash should be bagged only in the official Town-issued Orange trash bags before being disposed of at the Transfer Station. The pilot is guiding us to build the habit of using special town trash bags that help with trash reduction.
Each Transfer Station permit holder will be provided with 15-gallon orange trash bags and 8-gallon green food scraps bag to use during the pilot program. If after recycling and separating out your food waste, you find that your household needs more bags during the pilot, you can purchase additional trash bags at local retailers. (Retailer list to be provided at a later date.)
Use the specially marked containers at the Transfer Station to separately dispose of your Orange trash bags and Green Food scraps bag.
Do not place the following items in the Orange town-approved bags:
Recyclable plastic, glass, or metal (use recycling containers)
Food scraps (use green bags)
Yard waste
Dirt, sod, concrete, or rock
Construction/demolition debris
Household hazardous waste
Hot ashes or flammable materials such as oil, gas, or paint
Please use the donation boxes for unwanted clothing. You can also donate used books and household items at the Pandemonium Thrift Shop (112 Elm St, Deep River).
Electronics should be placed in the electronic recycling bins.
For bulky waste and appliances, please see Transfer Station attendant for how and where to dispose of these items. Please see fee schedule here.
Items accepted for disposal (fee): refrigerator, air conditioner, tires, propane tanks, mattresses, rugs, and brush.
